At age 15, Chef Matt began washing dishes and busing tables at a traditional Italian restaurant. From there, he went on to study the art of drumming and jazz percussion at SUNY Purchase College. However, it was through his passion for playing music that he rediscovered the culinary arts, finding a personal connection between creative expression and fine dining.
In 2004, Chef Matt enrolled in the Art Institute of New York. In 2008, he graduated with an associate’s degree in culinary & restaurant management. Since then, he has worked as a cook at Harvest on Hudson, Equus Restaurant at The Castle On Hudson, and Blue In White Plains (Executive Chef). In July 2011, Chef Matt opened the doors to the “The Cedar Street Grill” which is located at 23 Cedar Street, Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522.
